Sony released the KD-43XF7005 in 2018. In the budgetary range of models of the seventh series, the TV takes its rightful place in terms of image quality. I have prepared a detailed review of the model and compared it with the specifications of other Sony TVs to better understand its features.
This model participates in best Sony TVs and in Best 4K UHD TVs.
Screen
Sony KD-43XF7005 with 42.5 ”diagonal (108 cm) has a resolution of 3840 × 2160 px. Supports 4K UHD, HDR10. 4K X-Reality PRO technology upscales the resolution to be closer to 4K and sharper. The details are worked out online. For comparison: Sony KDL-40WD653 1080p Full HD cannot produce enhanced quality content. The TFT IPS matrix provides a viewing angle of 178 °. When viewing with a strong deviation from the center, the clarity is practically not lost, only the brightness of the colors is slightly reduced. In Sony KDL-40WD653, colors lose significantly in brightness.
The color depth is 8 bits. Color - 350 cd / m2. Have Sony KD-49XF7596 this figure is higher - 400 cd / m2. But the model with a larger diagonal loses in contrast - 1500: 1, while the Sony KD-43XF7005 - 3300: 1. The picture refresh rate is 50 Hz. Motionflow XR technology increases the index to 200 Hz, which significantly reduces the likelihood of tearing in action scenes, although it does not allow for perfect smoothness.
Edge LED backlighting provides for the placement of LEDs on the sides of the matrix, which creates the possibility of glare. Sony KDL-40WD653 with Direct LED backlight does not have such a problem, when the diodes are evenly distributed behind the screen. But on the other hand, the side illumination allows you to make the screen as thin as possible - 58 mm (for KDL-40WD653 - 66 mm).
Appearance
The TV is made in black, its dimensions are 970 × 571 × 58 mm, and its weight is 9.8 kg. The body is thin, the frame is made of a material that simulates an aluminum coating. Cables can be neatly routed into special compartments, which are also provided in the stand with two legs. Dimensions with stand are 970 × 630 × 279 mm. For wall mounting, VESA mounts 200x100 mm are provided.
Connectors
The TV is equipped with a sufficient number of connectors: AV, 3 HDMI, 3 USB, Ethernet, Miracast, WiDi, optical output, headphone jack. There is Wi-Fi. Have Sony KDL-40WD653 only two HDMI and USB ports, while KD-49XF7596 - 4 HDMI, there is Bluetooth.
Sound
Sound power is provided by 2 speakers of 10 watts. This TV outperforms the 2016 model. KDL-40WD653 with 5 watt speakers. Dolby Digital, DTS decoders increase the realism and depth of sound.
Functions
Smart TV platform - Linux. KD-49XF7596 already equipped with Android platform, which provides more benefits: Google Play store, Chromecast for playing content from a smartphone. Plug & Play technology displays videos, photos and other information on the screen when connected to a smartphone or other external source. Built-in memory - 4 GB, Sony KD-49XF7596 - 16 GB.
It is possible to record on external media. The Time Shift function allows you to stop viewing an on-air channel and start playback from the moment you stopped. Connection of PCs and other devices to a single network via DLNA is provided.
Control is carried out by a remote control, which has quick navigation buttons (YouTube, applications). Voice control capabilities, as in the KD-49XF7596, does not provide. Because of this, it is not very convenient to use the search, to type requests. Equipped with a timer, has a child lock. Consumes 100 watts. In terms of energy efficiency, it loses Sony KDL-40WD653 (59 W).
Advantages and disadvantages
Benefits:
- good color rendering, rich deep colors, image clarity;
- movements are smooth and well practiced. Suitable for HDR gaming;
- many color settings to allow precise image setting;
- the sound is good, but for music lovers you will need additional acoustics;
- moderately smart Smart. Fast and clear menu;
- easy Wi-Fi setup.
Disadvantages:
- too small a step of adjusting the sound;
- ineffective Smart: apart from YouTube, Netflix and the browser, there is nothing to use. New software is not installed;
- large legs, do not add attractiveness.
Verdict
The price of the KD-43XF7005 model is 42 thousand rubles. Quite a reasonable price for a high-quality realistic image in 4K. A TV without such an opportunity with a smaller diagonal costs 34 thousand rubles (Sony KDL-40WD653). But the cheaper model lags behind in the smoothness of reproduction of dynamic scenes and brightness. A significant disadvantage of the TV in question is Smart TV on Linux, but Sony KD-49XF7596 on Android will cost already 60 thousand rubles. The latter loses somewhat in contrast. In general, the model is more than decent considering the detail and realism of the picture, but you shouldn't expect much from the outdated Smart TV.
