How a dishwasher works (basic principles)

Despite its usefulness, the dishwasher is not very common in the CIS countries. Many people think that this device will not be able to wash dishes better than a person who does it by hand. In this article we will tell you about how a dishwasher works and how it works.

Dishwasher design

dishwasher designThe principle of operation of the dishwasher itself is quite simple, below we describe the main elements that are included in its design:

  • circular pump or motor - this element pumps water into the machine, and circulates it in a circle, maintaining a constant temperature of the liquid;
  • heating element - mainly located inside the above element, designed to maintain a given water temperature. Its maximum value does not exceed 70 degrees;
  • rocker arms or water supply system - through them, water is supplied to the working chamber, where the dishwashing process takes place, clean or mixed with powder, it all depends on which cycle the dishwasher is currently running on. In different machines, they are located in different ways, mainly from the bottom, but there is also an upper location of the system;
  • basket for dishes - everything is clear from the name, dishes are placed in it, under this element, or on top of it there is the above element, which washes the contents of the basket;
  • filtration system - it is designed for water purification, installed in front of the circular pump;
  • drain pump (pump) - it is designed to pump out used water from the dishwasher.

In some models of dishwashers, the design includes a variety of system sensors that measure the degree of water pollution, the weight of the dishes, and various other parameters. Because of this, the device and the principle of operation become more complicated, but this adds a considerable part of the automation of the process for the dishwasher.

The main processes of the dishwasher

work processThere are several main stages of dishwashing:

  • preparatory stage - first of all, you must load the dishes that you want to wash into the machine, and then add all the necessary detergents. All that remains is to set the desired program;
  • the main stage of dishwashing - then it's all about the dishwasher. When you press the start button, in some models, the dishes are pre-soaked. After that, the system begins to pump water, and heat it to the desired temperature, after the liquid has heated up, detergents are added to it. Only then will the main washing process begin, water enters the rocker arm, and it releases it under pressure, forming trickles of water. Water jets knock all the dirt off the dishes, after which the dirty substance sinks to the bottom of the unit, then it is sucked into the circulation system and filtered, the process is repeated throughout the entire washing process;
  • first rinse of dishes from detergents - the system carries out the initial cleaning of the dishes from the detergent and the remaining dirt.The cleaning takes place with the use of cold water. The liquid, as before, is filtered and enters the system;
  • final rinse - in this case, rinsing occurs with hot water. This liquid goes through the last stages of filtration after the end of the washing process, it is drained through the pump;
  • dish drying process - as the name implies, your washed dish goes through a drying stage that will remove water from it. There are basically two main types of drying:
  • The condensation process - it's all about ordinary physics, the program after the final rinse raises the temperature in the chamber, because of which the water turns into steam, which settles on the walls of the chamber and flows down to the bottom. Even those drops of water that remain on the dishes will flow down by themselves. This process is bad because it takes too long.
  • Turbo drying - this system differs from the above in that it carries out the drying process by supplying hot air, which is blown through the dishwashing chamber using a ventilation system. The name speaks for itself, this type of drying is the fastest.

After finishing work, the dishwasher will notify you with a characteristic sound signal.

Conclusion

We told you about how the dishwasher works and how it works. Today, these units have a reasonable price, and knowing how it works, you can safely choose it for your kitchen and get such a useful thing.
