Comparison of a gas stove and a hob

It's no secret that a good housewife spends a lot of time in the kitchen. The amount of time and effort spent on preparing a delicious dinner depends on how well and conveniently equipped this room is. That is why, when arranging a new kitchen or renovation work, the question arises: which is better gas hob or gas stove?

What is the best choice?

It is rather difficult to give a definite answer. It all depends on what goals and objectives the person sets for himself. The choice in this case depends on many parameters:

  • the size and layout of the kitchen;
  • device cost;
  • frequency of use;
  • the importance of having an oven;
  • preferred type of power supply: gas, electricity or induction;
  • overall dimensions and weight of the device;
  • ease of installation;
  • other factors.

Let's take a look at how the hob differs from the stove, and what advantages and disadvantages each of these units has.

Kitchen stove: pros and cons

Despite the widest selection of various kitchen units, many housewives continue to choose traditional stoves. Moreover, the choice of models today is incredibly large. Gas, electric, induction or combination models can be purchased at will.

Benefits

The first and most important advantage of a traditional hob is its ease of installation. In order to replace the unit, it is enough just to remove the old plate from the room and install a new one in its place. If you decide to buy not a gas, but an electric stove or "induction", you do not even have to call a gas service specialist to connect. It will be enough just to plug the device into an outlet.

The next plus is the low cost of the device. An inexpensive gas stove "no bells and whistles" will cost much less than the most budget hob. And if you add the cost of an inexpensive oven to this amount, the difference will be even more noticeable.

Traditional slabs are quite durable. On such a surface, you can put any, even a very heavy pan.

Stationary ovens are also easy to clean. Most of them have a metal enamelled surface. It can be cleaned with a soft brush with various detergents and there is no fear of scratching anything.

disadvantages

Familiar stoves, including gas ones, are a rather bulky piece of furniture. The slab will take up at least half a square meter of space. In addition, it is possible to place a gas stove only where pipes are laid and it is possible to properly equip ventilation.

It is quite difficult to fit a traditional stove into the interior. No matter how hard the designer tries, the unit will still divide the general plane of the headset into 2 parts. It is also impossible to ensure a snug fit on the sides of the device.All the same, there will be cracks in which debris, drops of water and grease and other "gifts" will fall. In order to properly wash the stove, it will have to be regularly moved from its place. Otherwise, simply do not wipe the side walls.

Hob: pros and cons

This surface is becoming an increasingly popular alternative to traditional slabs. There are various modifications on the market of household appliances, from gas, to induction or mixed.

Advantages

The hob is super compact, especially in thickness. It can be placed literally on any worktop, and the space under it can be used to arrange shelves and drawers. This is just the perfect solution for small kitchens. If there is no need for constant use of the oven, you can purchase a free-standing compact model and store it in the pantry, taking it out as needed.

The kitchen panels are beautiful. You can choose the perfect option for any design. The surface will just look like an integral part of the countertop - stylish and original.

The hobs are quite easy to maintain. For daily cleaning, you just need to wipe the panel with a regular soft cloth. This is especially true for those models that are made of glass or glass ceramics.

The panels are installed completely independently. There is no need to place it above the oven. The latter can be placed, generally, on the other side of the kitchen. And if the hostess does not use the oven, you don't have to buy it at all.

Negative traits

It takes a lot of work to install the hob yourself. For her, you will have to cut out a special opening in the countertop, carefully adjust all dimensions and only then engage in installation and connection. In addition, for correct and long-term operation, it is necessary to provide a good ventilation system directly to the cabinet. Otherwise, the panel will quickly deteriorate, and the furniture from excess heat may catch fire.

For built-in appliances, special furniture is provided. If it is not there, you will have to spend extra money on the purchase of a kitchen set.

If you decide to buy both a panel and a gas-fired oven, it will be difficult to build them in. Each of the devices will require a separate gas hose. We'll have to call the gas foreman and order a separate project. The use of a variety of doubles and spacers is strictly prohibited.

A good hob is expensive. Plus, add the cost of the built-in oven. The amount received as a result may not please. It must be remembered that, most likely, you will have to spend money on installation.

A classic hob made of glass or glass ceramics is not capable of supporting a total weight of more than 15-17 kg. Moreover, no more than 5-6 kg can be put on each burner. So if you are used to cooking compotes with buckets, this option is definitely not suitable.

conclusions

As you can see, each of these devices has both pros and cons. So you should proceed solely from your own preferences.

If you want to end up with an ultra-modern kitchen and do not scare you additional expenses, it is better to stop the choice on the panel and an additional free-standing oven.

If the priority is to be able to cook a lot and at the same time, it is better to prefer the traditional stove.

    For my taste, a gas hob is still more convenient, but an electric oven. I looked at each of my friends and tried to cook both there and there. And so I decided to take it separately, and not in one plate.
