Replacing the drain hose in the washing machine with your own hands

As a rule, in order to change the drain hose of the washing machine with your own hands, you need to disassemble the unit case. The drain hose for the washing machine has a different diameter at the ends of 19 x 22 mm, also has a corrugated surface and is fixed inside the device, near the drain pump. Then it goes along the walls of the car body, and is brought out through the back wall, at the bottom or at the top of it.

To replace the drain hose, you first need to detach it from the drain pump, and only then from the machine body. To make it easier to work, dismantle the top panel of the unit. In this article, we will present all types of drain pipe connections, in accordance with the specific design of washing machines from different manufacturers.

Replacing the drain hose on AEG, Bosch and Siemens washers

To get closer to the place of fixing the drain element for machines of this category, you should resort to dismantling the front panel.

  1. Remove the clamp and remove the door seal from the front wall of the washing machine.
  2. Remove the dispenser.
  3. Detach the trim panel next to the plinth.
  4. Pour the remaining water through the pump filter, spreading a cloth underneath to absorb.
  5. Remove the bolts securing the front panel to the washing machine body (1 at the top and 2 at the bottom).
  6. Bend the bottom of the panel towards you, pull it down and detach the entire panel.
  7. Remove the wiring from the door lock located on the panel.

Dismantling the old and installing a new hose

  1. After gaining access to the inside of the machine, detach the clamp from the tube and dismantle the hose from the drain system.
  2. We mark the attachment points of the factory element, detach it from the walls of the case and take it out.
  3. We firmly insert the new tube into the place of the old one, press it with clamps.
  4. We run the drain hose along the walls of the machine, attach it to the body and take it out.
  5. It is necessary to correctly connect the outlet end of the tube to the sewer lines and test both ends for tightness.

Changing the drain hose on Ariston, Ardo, Beko, Candy, Indesit, LG, Samsung and Whirpool machines

In machines of this group, access to the place of attachment of a failed hose is carried out through the bottom.

  1. Unfasten the plinth covering the pump filter.
  2. Pour out the remaining water by carefully unscrewing the filter.
  3. Move the washing machine away from the wall and tilt it back so that it rests on the wall.
  4. Having gained access to the drain hose, disconnect it from the drain system and loosen the clamps with round-nose pliers.
  5. After marking the location of the factory drain part on the inside of the case, unclip it and take it out. So that nothing interferes with dismantling work, it is worth additionally removing the upper wall of the washing machine.
  6. Install the replaceable element and carry out assembly work in the opposite order.
  7. Connect the pipe to the sewer lines and test both ends for tightness.

Replacing the drain hose on Electrolux and Zanussi washing machines

In devices of this category, in order to gain access to the interior space, it is necessary to properly dismantle the back panel, since the bottom of these washing machines is almost always solid, and the front panel cannot be dismantled. This is the only way to replace the drain hose.

Removing the rear panel

  1. Detach the upper wall of the washing machine, for which it is necessary to unscrew 2 fastening bolts from the rear panel, remove the cover by bending it back and dismantle it.
  2. Unscrew 4 self-tapping screws in the upper part, then 2 on the side (located under the plugs) and 2-3 more in the lower part.
  3. Dismantle the plastic fastening of the inlet valve from the rear wall and carefully remove the rear panel.

Detaching and installing the drain hose

  1. When the back wall of the washing machine is detached, you can get close to all the details of the device, without exception. Then you need to pour out the remaining water using the drain tube, tilting it down and placing a bucket or cloth under it.
  2. Find the drain element fasteners and remove them by stretching the clamp.
  3. Detach the tube from the body brackets, immediately noting where they are.
  4. To change the drain hose correctly, insert the replacement element instead of the factory one and attach it with a clamp.
  5. It is necessary to connect the free end of the hose to the sewer lines and make sure that all joints are tight.
  6. Carry out the assembly work on the rear wall in the opposite sequence.

 

Replacing the drain hose on a vertical washing machine

In order to replace a broken drain hose in typewriters with vertical loading machines, as a rule, you just need to dismantle the side panel.

  1. To remove the side panel, unscrew the fastening bolts from the end of the rear panel, unscrew 1 bolt in the end, front and basement. Slide the side panel towards the rear wall, push it down and unhook.
  2. Having got to the place of attachment of the drain elements, you need to stretch the clamp and remove it.
  3. Detach the tube from the body and remove it from the washing machine. Then you need to replace the tube and connect it to the sewer communications.
  4. Installation is carried out in the opposite sequence.
